F4

The First Factual Films Festival (F4) is a new screening program held during the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) 2010. Co-presented by AIDC and the Media Resource Centre, F4 showcases first films from Australian documentary filmmakers at the start of their careers alongside the first films of legendary documentary masters attending AIDC 2010.

Screening over three evenings at the Mercury Cinema, F4 concludes with the presentation of the inaugural F4 Award for Outstanding New Documentary Talent to one exceptional filmmaker. The F4 Award is judged by the F4 master filmmakers and a panel of high profile international documentary professionals.

Welcoming general public audiences as well as AIDC delegates, F4 brings together the people of Adelaide and the documentary professionals of the world - for the love of Docs.

Each evening features the first film of a master documentarian alongside the films of several first filmmakers, contextualised by introductions and Q & A discussions around the documentaries and their makers.

F4 provides audiences with an unprecedented opportunity to view the rare first films of documentary masters and to be at the forefront of supporting a new wave of standout Australian documentary filmmaking talent.
